The Proprietor
In 1954,
upon graduation from
Phoenix Union High
School in Phoenix, Arizona, he received the Solid bronze, prestigious Bausch & Lomb
Honorary Science Award. In 1996 he became a member of The New York Academy of Sciences.
During the 42 years in between he served 3 years, as a technician, with the U.S. Army and
their Corporal Missile System, he attended The University of Texas at El Paso from
1957-1963, while working as a technical representative for the Bendix Corporation on the
Talos Guided Missile program, and then Served as a guided missile research and development
engineer until 1967. He also has worked as a Teacher, restaurateur, lecturer, and
Documentary producer. Since 1991 he has addressed his full time and talent as an author
and teacher of Health and no fat cooking.
Norman began learning all about cooking
from his mother at the tender age of five and by his eleventh birthday he was required to
put that teaching to good use. His mother was placed in a sanatorium, struck down by
tuberculosis, where she was to remain for years. While his father worked the night shift
Norman was forced to cook for himself and his little brother Jim, or do without! His first
effort was roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy and dill pickles. his selection of
vegetables 
soon expanded.
In 1991 he wrote his
first book, No Fat Please, a very successful word-of-mouth underground book. In 1992 he
needed a text book on no fat cooking in order to teach at the Johnson County Community
College, so he wrote his second book, Just No Fat. His third book, Favorite Foods:No Fat
Cooking, containing over 400 recipes of regular foods for regular people, was published
nationally. His fourth effort was the beautiful 4-color book, No Fat Fudge, with 45
wonderful fudge recipes.
For his 5th book,
entitled "DHEA & No Fat Cooking" he utilized
38 of over 4,000 possible research documents on DHEA in producing just the first chapter.
His decision to address only those studies performed on human subjects quickly reduced the
number of scientific papers to be considered.

Norman lives, works and cooks with his wife
Brenda, in a lake front cottage in Lake Clairborne, Louisiana surrounded by hundreds of flowering
plants, bushes and vegetables which is their other avocation.
